7 Tips For year-round beauty

Hello Ladies,

Today, I would like to share with you 7 easy but necessary steps that we all need to follow year-round to maintain a beautiful and flawless face and body

Moisturizing after Bathing

Most of us enjoy a warm, relaxing bath or shower. Unfortunately it also tends to remove  valuable oils from our skin.  The easy solution to replace the lost hydration, is of course the use of moisturizing body creams,  many of which also offer added benefits such as firming and toning the skin.  A good way never to forget to use your body cream or lotion, is by keeping it in the shower. This way, by having it in sight, you will remember to use it. Finally, keep in mind that you need to apply the cream or lotion on your skin within ten minutes after finishing your bath so that the skin is not completely dry.

Daily Sun Care

Use your sun cream year-round! Yes you read that right. The sun cream should be applied in the winter as well.  The reason for this,  is that the harmful UVA and UVB rays are always present even when it is cloudy.  Of course, using a good sun cream is even more essential in  the warmer, summer months.

The application of a good sun cream should be the last step in your daily beauty regime, and it is placed on the skin before your make-up application.  For the face and other sensitive areas (as well as for children) choose a sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of at least 30, and even better, SPF 50 or 60.  Many of you, may also find it useful and convenient to use a sunscreens in spray form. These are very handy to have in your purse and in the car, and can be used throughout the day - even over your make-up. Finally, keep in mind that the lower the SPF value, the more often you need to repeat the application.

Remove Your Make-up at Night

It's really amazing how many women often do not remove their make-up before going to bed.  Any excuses are just that - excuses! You should be aware that make-up ingredients get mixed up with skin oils and dirt that has been accumulating during the day, and as such it can easily clog the pores, cause infections and pimples. Make-up in traps free radicals that float in the air and damage the skin.  Just think of all the car exhaust fumes you are exposed to during the day.
A good tactic I follow is to clean my face and remove the make-up as soon as I enter the house. If you wait until you see the ending credits of your favorite tv show, means it is already too late, you are too tired and you will not do it.

Exfoliate Regularly

Wouldn't it be nice if our skin was like a baby's skin which renews every 14 days? Well, unfortunately, by the time we reach the age of 30 our skin takes twice as long - about 28 days - to regenerate.  During this period, skin cells have plenty of time to lose their hydration and for the skin to lose its luster, unless of course, you help speed things along with regular exfoliation (peeling). Depending on the condition of your skin, exfoliation should be done every 7-10 days or at a minimum twice a month.  This is true both for the face and body.  For really good results, you should take it a step further and follow the peeling with the appropriate serum or ampoule and a mask.  For the body, choose the appropriate moisturizing-nourishing cream.

Our hands have a Soul too!

Hydration and nutrition is essential not only for the face and body, but also for the hands and nails. They also have the same needs like the rest of the body and therefore must be treated with the same care. Aging and environmental elements leave quite noticeable marks on our hands. Choose rich moisturizing and nourishing creams that will protect your hands from dryness and cracking.
Furthermore, it is also necessary to protect your hands from the harmful UVA / UVB rays by  making regular use of the same sun cream you use for the face.

For extra pampering for your hands try the following. Once a week make a mask for your hands. Before going to bed, apply a thicker layer of your hand cream and then put on cotton gloves, and leave it on all night.  When you wake up your hands will be velvety soft and look their best.

Keep Your Hands Away from Your Face

As tempting as it may seem to "squeeze" a pimple, the fact that you will be touching your face (most likely without disinfecting your hands first) means that your fingers will be transferring oils and impurities onto your skin, which in turn will clog your skin pores.

Have Patience

Be patient with your skin care program.  It may seem like waiting for ever until you see results from using a cream or a beauty program you are following at home, but you need to have patience.  Keep in mind, that in the case of anti-aging creams, it can take anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks to see the results. The same goes for whitening products and acne products.  Nonetheless, if you do not see a difference after using a product for six weeks then it is probably time to make changes in the products you use.

Until next time....Be Beautiful
