Happy New Year! The new year brings us the opportunity to do
away with all those bad skin care habits and reconsider our skin care routine.
Sun Protection is a Priority
Using sun protection on a daily basis all
year round is not only essential to prevent sun damage, wrinkles and sun spots,
but it is an important step in preventing skin cancer. Over the course of time, the sun can impose
significant hardships and damage to your skin, so it is important to use
quality sun care products to protect from the skin from the damage caused by UVA/UVB
rays.
Exfoliation for glowing Skin
Regardless of your skin type,
exfoliating should be a very important
step in your skin care routine. The
reason is that as we get older, our skin is not as efficient is disposing of
dead skin cells and regenerating new ones.
The result is that dead skin cells start accumulating on the surface of
the skin, clogging the pores and results in excess oil production. This leads
to dull looking, rough and dry skin. In
addition the excess oil can lead to blemishes and acne.
Exfoliation helps us to remove the dead
skin layers and bring to the surface the the fresh skin cells below. The
benefit of course is that that now that the pores of the skin are not
clogged, all skin care products that
will follow will be able to penetrate more deeply into the skin, thus making
them more effective. Once a week or
every 10 days is probably adequate for most of us to keep our skin fresh and
healthy.
Moisturize - Moisturize
Dry, oily, or sensitive skin type? This is
one step in your skin care routine that cannot be omitted. Using moisturizing products will significantly
delay wrinkles and other skin ageing signs to start showing up, plus it will
prevent redness and flaky skin. There
are several excellent moisturizers you can choose from that can also combine
anti aging, nutrition and other elements.
You can also opt to using more concentrated moisturizing products in the
form of serums or ampoules which will provide your skin with immediate
moisturizing benefits.
Finally do not moisturize your face, neck
and décolleté and forget about the rest of your body. Every warm shower we take, removes essential
skin oils, so it is imperative to be regularly moisturized to keep it young and
supple. Try and apply your body
moisturizing products within 5-10 minutes
from stepping out of the shower, and while the skin is still damp.
Night Care
Did you know that after a night’s rest we
can actually wake up with a healthier, glowing skin? Research has shown that our cells regenerate
faster while we’re sleeping. The reason is that while we sleep, our skin cells
start repairing the damage to our skin that was caused during the day such as
from environmental pollutants, UV radiation etc. During this repair process, the blood vessels
dilate, which results in an increase in the flow of nutrients and oxygen to the
skin, which in turn help to stimulate the removal of cellular toxin by-products.
It is true that our cell will do this
regardless if we take care of our skin or not.
However, imagine the added benefits we will have if we provide our skin
all those tools necessary to optimize the repair process. Night care is our opportunity to provide the
skin with antioxidant elements to fight
UV and free-radical damage, hydrate the skin, provide it with anti-aging
elements , minimize skin pigmentation, and
so much more.
The very least we can do however is to
thoroughly cleanse our face so that we provide a clean canvas for our cells to
do their work, and use an eye cream.
Everyone Needs Professional Care
A good skin care routine at home is very
important. However, equally important is
receiving professional salon treatments. Getting a professional facial is the
best way to deeply cleanse, exfoliate, and hydrate your skin, plus it will also
stimulate circulation and give your skin a radiant glow. Furthermore it will
make using your home skin care products more effective and achieve faster
results.
